Commercial Blog

The commercial is finally finished! It was a long and tiring process but at the end of the day it's finally done. In the end I ended up having to cut out a few shots and ideas due to the time limit but overall, I am satisfied with the finished product. It was a hard task and at times i felt like giving up but I persevered and am proud to say that u am finally finished. I had an amazing group partner and we had tons of fun filming together. The hardest process out of all of this would have to have been the editing. I'm not especially skilled with editing softwares and I had been pushed to the brink of tears many times because of this project but I did it! Yay!

EVEN MORE EDITING!

Today I edited... again! It would be an understatement to describe the task as boring. Although I do enjoy the process of watching my own creations take shape, I was burnt out today. For more than half the day today I had to do PSAT testing. So when it finally came time to sit in front of a laptop and work I was exhausted. I honestly didn't even have much work to do for editing, it was just the same process over and over again for each one of the numerous clips. After a long morning of repeatedly circling boxes I was not overjoyed to have to sit down for 50 minutes and repeatedly cut and snip clips. Overall the editing went okay. It was a long and slow process but I accomplished a ton. I'm proud to say that I am almost completely done with my commercial.

Editing at last (I'm exhausted already)

Today was the first day of editing. I realized a little too late that I was completely unprepared to edit my commercial. I didn't bring my laptop into school so I had no editing software for my video. But I was not ready to give up hope just yet. So rather than wallowing in my own self pity I got started on selecting which shots to use. Over the course of filming me and my partner filmed over 50 different experimental takes and shot to see which angles and video speeds worked best with out idea. Today I sorted through all of those shots and takes selecting the best ones to incorporate into out commercial. I had to go hunting through my camera roll to find the correct shots from the numerous filming days. Once I picked out the clips themselves I got to work altering the clips to perfection. I sped them up if needed slowed them down, cut certain parts and so on. Even though I hadn't been able to put the clips together during class today I was able to edit the actual clips themse

Finishing up

Today I spent most of the class period filming with Chris. I had been pretty much done with all the shots and scene I had wanted to film for the video but I still had to add some finishing touches. While filming the final part where Chris was supposed to kick the soccer ball we realized too late that we actually didn't even have the soccer ball. I had noticed one of our classmates had a soccer ball so I asked if we could borrow the ball for 5 minutes. Luckily they were really friendly so they lent it to us and we were able to finish our shot for the day. That was pretty much the highlight of the experience. while we were outside we realized that the sun was out and shining and I decided to refilm some of the shot we took last time since we had better lighting. Filming with the bright sun helped contribute to the realism I wanted to add to the advertisement. Me and my group partner ended up getting all the shots we needed for today and we even took different takes of the same shots

SO MUCH WALKING!

Today, Chris and I went to work on filming our commercial for Nike shoes. First, we went out to the softball field behind building 17 to film some shots. These shots consisted of him (he was wearing the Nike shoes) performing different drills and routines with the feet, such as jogging in place, side hopping, and foot and leg stretches. I used my camera to film these shots, focusing on his feet in order to emphasize the shoes. The shots of Chris doing these exercises are going to be in a compilation of shots near the end of the commercial. When we finished these shots, we walked over to towards the track and football field. As we walked, I recorded audio of my footsteps in the grass to use in the video. When we arrived at the track, we set our bags down and made our way down to where the starting line was. Then, I filmed Chris getting in a starting position and then breaking into a sprint. Again, we made sure to focus heavily on the shoes. I then had him walk through the grass, progr
